This time Esther Duijn from the Netherlands brings you a cool mix. Many things can be said about Esther: She's talented both as a DJ and as a producer, she's beautiful and she's a vinyl enthusiast - a collector who is passionate about the analouge media. Esther Duijn first cought our attention when the D.A.D. (a collaboration between Esther, Steady Douglas and Anonym) EP from the label Exquisite Music came out in 2009. Her ability to bring soul and groove into her production and mixes is outstanding and turns everything she touches into a deep story that will keep you intrigued by it. 

She recently signed with our friends from Geography Records and just released the debut EP on the label Feel Harmonic with Steady Douglas and with a remix from Anton Zap himself.

Australian blog Disco Delicious has already dipped it's toes into the record label waters with the launch of Death Strobe last year and it's a label you should check, not least because Erol Alkan was dropping tracks from their second release during his recent Antipodean tour. The obvious passion for music demonstrated on the website should also ensure that the quality delivered on this twelve from Joystick Jay, the debut release on their new edit label is retained for future drops. Rich in an international flavour all too absent from the majority of edit releases these days, the Danish producer digs up a mind bogglingly good Fela Kuti rarity on the A Side, whilst the B Side holds a smooth South American disco yacht jam infused with subtle filtration and a delightfully soothing African communal track. Recommended for those who like to veer off the beaten track.

Vancouver based producer Tomas Jirku has been creating innovative techno since the late nineties and first appeared on the NoType net-label in 1999. In 2000, he became the first Canadian signed to the seminal Force Inc Music Works label, and then its sub-label’s formative Clicks & Cuts compilation series, which didn’t just define a genre, but carved a niche for emerging producers. Jirku has continued a prolific music career appearing on such labels as Traum, Klang, Onitor, Alien8, Substractif, Revolver, Intr_version and more.

His latest release – Psilence – collects fragments of his various stylistic approaches and influences, and funnels them closer to the Detroit vibe he’s been secretly striving for all this time. The title track is an abstract house number with reverberating beats and warm dub-flecked pads that slowly evolve into a quirky techno track. Star Control goes sci-fi with classic synth sounds in the format of shifting electro-techno groover. Layers of floating atmospheric chords underlie a bounce that is bound to move you on the dance floor. Star Control’s dub version explores the dark matter hidden within the original, and fittingly incorporates samples from John Carpenter’s sci-fi classic ‘Dark Star’. Finally, for the DJ that doesn’t want to confuse his audience with disembodied voices, Star Control’s instrumental version excludes the movie samples for a stripped-down minimal, funky journey. If you think these Memorex recordings are good, you can hear Tomas Jirku perform them live at this year’s Mutek Festival in Montréal!

After months of planning and hard work, Cold Fiction Music’s third V.A. compilation arrives. Futur[e]cho began as an idea after the unexpected positive response of the first entirely dub-oriented release on the label: the DeepWarmth/Textural Being Split EP. Originally the idea of collecting people to work on a deep, dubby techno compilation album seemed too big for the scope of the label, but over time not only was the idea refined, but now the eight-month-long project is at an end, and the results are surprisingly good. The compilation, presented for your listening pleasure, features 11 notable artists in the present-day dubby, technoid scene. Coppice Halifax, Anton Mayer, Soap, Dublicator, Spiral Dub, Textural Being, ISA, DeepWarmth, As If, Spaceci and Fingers in the Noise all contribute works of art to the compilation, giving the final product a deep, ambient quality that was never anticipated when the idea was still just an idea.

And now, at long last, the release is open to the public, ready to make its mark in the history of Cold Fiction Music.

After what has been an amazing couple of months here at the Deepcast, with artists like Jus-Ed, DJ QU and Mark E laying down some of the last few episodes of the podcast, Berlin’s Bastian Volker AKA Baaz is next up, as we happily tick off yet another incredible artist from the ‘to-do list’.

We first came across Baaz after instantly falling for his first offering on Sthlmaudio back in 2007, with four simple yet highly effective deep raw house cuts it was pretty clear the guy had a knack for it. His follow up records were even better, with his Few Days EP on US label Elevate, containing gems like ‘Wisp’ and ‘Even’, becoming an instant classic of the deep house genre. On top of his select yet timeless original works, Baaz has made a name for himself adding his signature warmth as a remixer, but his greatest talents we think lay behind the turntables.

With a fondness for the rawest and rarest selections, his DJ sets always feel like an effortless extension of his current mood, and after his last few stunning mixes for Technique, Keep It Deep and LWE, we knew this would be just as special. No tracklist so you’ll have to get train-spotting on this one, but that’s all part of the fun right?

How was this April for you? Nice? I hope so ... in May and has many positive things ... summer is coming and that means we have a few surprises ... that good ... Summer means freedom, means hotness, beach, pool, dinner, more new people, more excitement for chat, go to new places ... a lot!

This May, we invite Paz, a sweet girl from Rosário,Argentina, which has feeling to pick the beat. She really likes things old school. This type of house construction and sounds that sound like in 90's, when the House was so well received and welcomed in the clubs. In times where Kenny Dixon Jr., Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and Marcellus Pittman already invaded us with his musical uniqueness, but also foreign to many and really futuristic on the kind of improvements showed the true spirit of Detroit House deep well in the days that today seems reappears as mainstream or on the dance floor and reasserts itself with a layer more suitable for secondary level aesthetic sound technological development. Anyway ... more like a house of other recent old-school and still others of both ... what makes you think and agree that the world of music in this case electronically is go infinitive.
Well .. if so I'll leave you with the beat in these sweet words of Paz and true that it conveys: woman is a symbol of beauty as the music and these two combinations represent a synergy of sensuality and energy in the dancing floor. it's because of it that she's the new relating one inside the house music and one of the young promises of the electronic music in argentina. little by little, she is giving his fruits, overcoming day after day the barrier that it divides to the sexs in the turntables.
