Soon Etapp Kyle releases ‘Sourness’ his third EP. The release includes three variations of dark acid-experimental track ‘Sourness’ plus a rework by Desonanz. The next Wax Works mix is here and this time it's coming straight outa Birmingham, from Horizontal Ground's DJ Skirt. Skirt first came to my attention with her record Horizontal Ground 07 and with her being the first artist on the label not to be anonymous it made things slightly easier when looking to get in touch. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones after a mix and as such it has taken about 1 year to finally get it, but it was most definitely worth the wait.

Skirt has delivered an absolutely quality mix that is 1 hour of raw, purist techno that just makes you want to go out - there's no boring mechanical perfection here, no overkill effects, just proper good tunes. I love the fact that you can hear the vinyl going slightly out and back in, I think it really adds to the vibe & tension of the set, coupled with the tune selection and the fact she drops 'speak to me', it's just superb.

In a nut shell, this is a serious fucking techno mix. All on vinyl and representing Birmingham.

"Our guest for this edition is Rotterdam home-based dj/producer Bas Mooy (1976).He has been active on many fronts in the techno scene since 1999. Heavily influenced by a city that breaths industrial strength twenty-four-seven, he gradually found his way into creating an unique dark sound, which lead him to the forefront of the European techno scene.

In 2002 he kickstarted the already legendary Audio Assault record label with label partner Jeroen Liebregts aka Radial, which resulted in the birth of sublabel Arms one year later. Since then the Audio Assault family built a strong and constantly growing fan-base worldwide, showcasing an impressive catalogue with a constant output of stand out twelve inches, setting the standard for today’s quality dark techno.

For many years he has also been a member of the Rotterdam underground collective ‘Strictly Techno’, creators of over a hundred legendary parties since 1996. Bas has played at many ‘top of the bill’ clubs and festivals around the globe and is a regular guest at the highly respected Awakenings parties in Holland.

Over the years Bas has been a hard working and devoted producer, spending many hours in the studio and putting out music on respected labels such as Planet Rhythm, Roots, Fine Audio Recordings, Naked Lunch, Impact Mechanics, Submissions, Patterns, Blank Records and of course his own imprints Audio Assault and Arms.

For the 9th Cut release, and the first of 2012, Existance (the talented Louis Hunt from Oxford) brings us a 3-track selection of deep dubstep-influenced tracks.
Taking a clear nod from the classic sound of dubstep, as well as continuing the emotive sounds of our existing Cut catalogue, Louis brings us three excellent pieces from the vocal-led "Miles Apart" to the piano-driven bliss of Pelennor Fields.

His sample, synth, bass and drum selections fit very well together, and his ear for a great melody and strong but not overbearing bassline is evident on the EP.

Eric Delay, our in-home pal, produces his new «Four Moments» EP after a long silence he kept for five years. His last performance was also on Fragment, the 12th release of the series.
According to the artist’s words, while working on new material he had to dive into the «disease of the experimenter»: deny all the familiar sounds of the standard moves, starting with a blank face, not knowing what to get.
A thing has turned out brief but very intense. Quiet stingy sounds here construct an interesting interaction between the «moments», when it seems that everything is connected and the album is more like some kind of weird «ecosystem.» It would be wrong to single out any one of the «moments», as the ideas of each of them find a kind of reflection in remaining ones. But even this may not be so important when it turns out that you are simply listening to the touching and heartfelt music.

«If however go deeper, the data in this four tracks is the prism of winter wanderings. We walked around for a long time alone, fell through the snow like Kerrol’s Alice Lewis falling for a rabbit into a bottomless hole. Black night, the city resonating light, snowflakes… The subject of infinite winter walks and partings. Now I think that actually those 4 months we lived for 40 years, but they were all unreal.»

Pfirter ´s tracks can be found on some of the most distinguished international Techno imprints and in the charts of many of the most respected djs of our time. He is an internationally acclaimed dj and producer, and this year he is actually relaunching his label MindTrip with three EPs of his own music, including remixes by numerous intriguing artists. Another EP entitled “Sessions EP”, which he recorded together with Monoloc, will soon be out on CLR. In the time-span of more than a decade of djing, Juan Pablo has developed a very personal style, which effortlessly moves through several sub-genres of Techno. If you want to experience one of his haunting dj sets, you can do this on his extended European tour, starting on February 23rd in Rome.

Born in Austria and raised in Switzerland, Alessandro Crimi has always been consumed by music. He began learning the piano at the age of eight and later moved on to discover software-synthesizers. Etapp Kyle, the Soviet’s son, was actually born in Germany where he spent seven years of his childhood. After coming back to Ukraine, he started his music education, played several instruments and studied vocals. As it often happened those days, he could end as a member of some provincial choir, but he chose his personal growth. Upon his first visit to a nightclub in 2003 the academic principles washed off his mind; he dreamt of electronic music since that moment. Through house music in the beginning, and passing by progressive tunes, he found a trail to Speedy J, Plastikman, Chris Liebing and Luke Slater - the very music which outlined his taste; the OstGut crew shaped his sound preferences, and a prototype of today’s Etapp Kyle entered the clubbing scene. Years passed since Etapp Kyle first appeared in DJ booth. Formats changed and gadgetry evolved, but strong connection to techno music remained. Etapp Kyle‘s style today is techno of high breeding not depending on its origin (Japan, Germany, the USA and the UK) or gender (Marcel Dettmann or Cio D’or) but of defined format: a subtle melody on top of industrial mood. Etapp Kyle breathes life into the dancefloor, he’s a unique son of the Ukrainian club culture.

В детстве, Etapp Kyle был лишен великого коммунистического настоящего. Дело в том, что до семи лет для него была лишь одна страна - Германия. По возвращению в Украину юношу отдали на поруки музыке. Он усердно учил музыкальную грамоту, играл на множестве инструментов и даже пел. Такие вещи или ломают, превращая человека в ячейку какого-нибудь провинциального хора, или же учат музыкальной гармонии и создании звуков из ничего. Etapp Kyle пошел по второму пути и не ошибся.
После посещения первого ночного клуба в 2003 году, сознание образцового музыканта разлетелось на тысячи фрагментов. Отныне он грезил электронной музыкой и дал себе слово, во что бы то ни стало реализовать себя в этой культуре. Сначала он попробовал на вкус хаус, затем раскусил крепкий орешек прогрессива, чтоб в конце упереться в Великую стену мировой техно-культуры. Speedy J, Plastikman, Chris Liebing и Luke Slater стали для Etapp Kyle спасительной дозой той самой Музыки, которой остаешься верен до самого конца. Тусовка OstGut лишь помогла окончательно сформироваться музыкальному вкусу артиста, и вот, прототип Etapp Kyle был запущен в клубное пространство.
Более пяти лет прошло с тех пор, как он впервые поднялся над диджей плейсом и посмотрел сверху-вниз на танцпольный шабаш. С тех пор менялись форматы и девайсы, но всегда во главе всего стояла Музыка. Стиль Etapp Kyle можно описать как породистое техно независимое от страны происхождения (Япония, Германия, США или Англия), независимое от пола (Marcel Dettmann или Cio D'or), но зависимое от формата: когда тонкая мелодия нанизана на индустриальное настроение. Etapp Kyle вдыхает жизнь в танцполы страны. Его по праву можно назвать уникальным сыном украинской клубной культуры. Во имя музыки, и не иначе.

Для каждого музыка несёт определённый смысл,для одного -это жизнь,а для другого - просто способ расслабится!Для меня музыка является двигателем эмоций,действий,она помогает преодолеть барьеры на пути к цели,увидеть вещи,которые без неё не замечаешь,что-то осознать и конечно же с ее помощью выразить чувства!

Миксом ничего наверное не хотел сказать.Подбор музыки и создание самого микса - передают мои чувста того периода и хотелось бы чтобы при прослушивании людей наполняли те прекрасные эмоции и вдохновение.
3. Почему важно слушать твою работу?

many people are showing their care towards Tom "vSquared" Spiteri right about now, a young dj / producer based in cardiff, uk. from a completely non-musical background, Tom has been working over the summer months perfecting his album with the intention of releasing it for free; "it's not for the money, it's for the people who love music, to simply enjoy my creation."

drawing inspirations from his life so far, various other music genres and fellow artists, Tom has managed to create a magnificent concept album designed to best be heard as a continuous running listening experience, that constantly shifts seamlessly through moods and styles.

"Who Really Cares?" is truly the sum of its parts, one consistent progression comprising of 13 bass music tracks including remixes of Alicia Keys, Amerie and Fetch. running for just over an hour, the album, in the words of Tom himself, "should be listened to in its entirety, with the full attention of an open mind."

Fanon Flowers was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, exactly halfway between Detroit and Chicago, the birthplaces of techno and house music. A product of his environment, he grew up listening to Italian Disco, Chicago Acid House and Detroit Techno. At the age of 17, Fanon purchased his first synthesizer and drum machine and started buying dance 12" records. He soon developed a style which combined the funky, syncopated rhythms of techno with the soul of house music. He began to garner attention in 1994 when he appeared as Mode Selector on the "Elements of and Experiments with Sound" compilation on Detroit's seminal Planet E label. Subsequent EPs for such labels as Reference, Konsequent, Sheep, E-Com, and Holtzplatten established Flowers' reputation as a prominent American techno producer. In 1996, Fanon Flowers appeared under his Mode Selector alias on the "Detroit: Beyond the Third Wave" Compilation. Released on Astralwerks, Flowers appeared alongside Detroit techno stalwarts such as Claude Young, Ectomorph, Sean Deason, and Anthony "Shake" Shakir.
That same year, Flowers started his own techno imprint, Mechanisms Industries (distributed by Triple Vision Holland), to showcase his unique and funky approach to techno. With over 40 records produced and released on various labels, Fanon Flowers embarked on several European Tours and One-off events playing in Slovakia, Spain, Belgium, Germany and England. Fanon Flowers also launched a new label in 2009 called Studio Sound (distributed by Crosstalk International Chicago). The label’s focus is Acid
Techno and pure Detroit Techno and the first released is called the “Acid Kush EP” by Fanon Flowers. The second release called “Detroit-Chicago” was released in 2010. The year 2009 saw the release of Mechanisms Industries monster remix 12”of the legendary Hard minimal Techno track “Dom” by Obscurum originally released in 1997 on E-Com Records Germany. The remix 12” includes remixes by Spanish Techno producers Exium, Reeko and Fanon Flowers. In 2011 the latest project to be released on Mechanisms Industries called “Antikythera Mechanism”, showcases the depths of the Mechanisms sound. Also in 2011 were releases on Modularz, Reaktor and Sect Records (UK).

No other artist typifies the wide-open playing field that electronic music has become in recent years better than Modeselektor. A bold claim, surely, but one that comes backed with plenty of evidence now that they have left the BPitch mothership and begun to literally put their money where their taste is with two record labels, Monkeytown and 50 Weapons.

The duo have released dubstep, techno, house, electro and whatever you want to call Anstam to the wider world. Many are artists that have already made a name elsewhere. (Their 50 Weapons of Choice compilation last year seemed liked a cherry-picking of the latest and greatest of bass music.) But just as many aren't. The aforementioned Anstam, Phon.o and Benjamin Damage & Doc Daneeka are hardly household names, even in homes that count post-dubstep blogs as essential reading. Those three have albums on the way (with Anstam's released just last week) on 50 Weapons. So does Addison Groove, at the end of March 2012.

All of the above are reasons why 50 Weapons is one of the most vital imprints around at the moment. But there are plenty more. To gain an insight into what makes the imprint so special, we caught up with the family to ask them to explain 50 Weapons and its appeal. (More...)

He has a new debut album (Following releases on Mordant Music and Further) called 'Intrusive Incidentalz Vol.1' via Peverelist's Punch Drunk label. «His sound is somewhere between radio phonic dub-scaping and post-industrial electronics, that you can trace back to Cabaret Voltaire. »

New projects: Ekoclef is a new side project; in collaboration with my old chum Ralph ‘Bass Clef’ Cumbers. We have an album called “Tape Swap” on Ralph’s label Magic & Dreams.

About the mix: this is just a mix of some music I’m currently enjoying. It was recorded entirely live (no software) with some added sound fx (reverb/echo/phasing, etc). f you think the spirit of 80s had completely gone with its music and improvised atmosphere of endless happiness, then you are wrong. It's just in front of you. And it's recreated in this debut long-play by 21-year-old bedroom producer from Russia who calls himself Audiosynthes. Several years ago he started experimenting with electro house and progressive trance music, and eventually realized that he always loved a classic disco sound. But direct copying of the style of Chic or Love & Kisses is not enough for him. Chillwave elements, space, glitch and house rhythms-all these things appear in his music. It's like going to the beach party on some distant planet where the doses of light exceeded all the possible limits, but thanks to the smiles, not the sun. This guy doesn't use any hardware, his studio is placed in one vintage PC and he doesn't make expensive photoshoots on the coast of California-he just makes the sound which bring you in eternal summer without unnecessary chemicals or air tickets. With his debut album set to be one of the early highlights of 2012, Gang Colours pops up with a neat remix package derived from his ‘In Your Gut Like A Knife’ EP, released back in June 2011 via Brownswood Recordings. Available digitally and completely free of charge… yes – FREE – via the Brownswood Bandcamp on 10th October 2011, the ‘In Your Gut Like A Knife’ remixes come from extended Brownswood family and fellow up-and-comers Pedestrian, Alex Patchwork, Frederic Robinson and DJ Dials.
With early outings via Goldie’s legendary Metalheadz imprint (remixing fellow Cambridge residents Commix) and Brownswood (check Bubblers Six) – plus an imminent EP on Push & Run – Pedestrian has quickly cemented himself as a talent to watch in 2012 and beyond. Coaxing ‘Dance Around The Subject’ from the fringes to the middle of the dancefloor, he serves up Gang Colours’ cascading synth slivers on a thumping warehouse groove. Next up is our own Alex Patchwork (Patchwork Pirates / Earnest Endeavours) who accelerates the lilting melodies of ‘Fireworks In Pocket’ with a nod to Chicago’s footwork movement, flipping overweight 808s and chattering percussion. Frederic Robinson is a young German producer who instils amazing charm and character in his D&B productions, pushing the sound into new territories. His contribution to Brownswood electr*c 2 – ‘Mood Swings’ – was a highlight for many. Here he blesses ‘In Your Gut Like A Knife’ with his signature warmth and sensitivity. Reppin’ the Bay Area, DJ Dials is another Brownswood electr*c alumnus, his arpeggiated ode to heartbreak ‘Pillowforts’ struck a chord with Gang Colours and he was therefore a natural choice to rework ‘Fireworks…’, fashioning a charming, drowsy, half-time emo stepper.

300 Degrees is a side project by IJO, dedicated to live electronic music made with vintage drum machines, synths and other analog gear. Recorded live as a part of a performance / improvisation between 2008 and 2010.

300 Degrees came into existence when IJO fell in love with a sound made by roland drum machines and synths, manufactured in early 80s. He start collecting his gear and recording music live, syncing drum machines all together, playing synths with one hand and twisting knobs with another.

Some of the tracks on this album have been previously released on "Napalm Enema Records" and "Cactus Island Recordings".

While the first reference was composed of various artists, this time presenting the second model of EP that will go work, focused on a particular artist and with various remixers. We wanted to be us, the people of Drugstore, which give the starting for this format, featuring three original cuts plus three remixes of three friends and colleagues.
The three original cuts are in tune to the music we have always intended to netaudio, with less commercial sound than the first release. We started with an intro EP (The Birth), the first published, to usher in two cuts: one with more underground sounds (Night Dream), and another tracker (Shadai). Too much variety, as you can see…
As for the remixers, first we present to Hermético, catalan dj and producer and one of the people most knowledgeable and respected in the netaudio world, thanks to his work as manager of Inoquo netlabel, as well as her work through his blog Oir Para Creer. We worked together on various projects over the years, and we can assure that their quality productions go beyond the four sides.
Moreover we have the hungarian GabeeN, another classic of netaudio circuit, which in recent times are getting great achievements in the commercial world, appearing on labels like Naked Lunch or Armatura. His productions always noted for its strength and breadth of sound, a perfect complement.
Last but not least, we introduced you to David Reina, producer from Córdoba (Spain) who is within the group of young talents which aims to support from Cicuta, providing a remix with a great personality.

The first reference is a mirror of the purpose of the project, an interesting mix of musical shapes. On the one hand we have Kike Pravda, one of the most respected artists in terms of dark techno in northern Spain. Also we have i1 Ambivalent from Croatia, one of the emerging European techno producers, with a sound tracker, but still dark. On the other hand we have Vegim, owner of TMM (Take More Music Records), which is one of Europe’s most respected producers in the techno circuit, with a lot of releases and remixes on his back since 2006.
As a counterpoint, we have the Catalan producers Mootiv, One D and Edrian Sailing, bringing a more melodic techno with sounds fresh and elegant. Mootiv is no stranger far, has published among other labels in Soundfate (owned by Dosem) and Inoquo (one of the most respected netlabels worldwide). His success is no accident; he’s film composer, visual artist and sound engineer, besides acting as a teacher in the ERAM (School of Audiovisual and Multimedia). One D, meanwhile, is following the footsteps of Mootiv, both for its quality and its success, having also published in Soundfate, and many projects in the medium and long term. About Edrian, this is his first project in his role as producer, and it will be not the last, sure…
To close the EP we have a own track. From Drugstore try to put a different point, with unconventional sounds, a sound closer to the music that we have always placed in our netaudio side.

Call us unimaginative, but Lebanon isn’t the first place we associate with electronic music, nor indeed the 31st. But it’s where Rabih Beaini a.k.a. Morphosis was born and reared. Heavily involved in music even as a little nipper, he moved to Italy in 1996, and come the new millennium started releasing music as Morphosis, primarily through his own Morphine Records label.

His sinuous, cerebral house and techno confections were brought to a wider international audience when picked up for release by Aroy Dee’s Netherlands-based M>O>S Records. The ‘Cetrik’ (2009) and ‘Running Out’ (2010) 12″s caught the attention of dedicated dance-pickers, but it was the arrival earlier this year of Morphosis’s What We Have Learned LP – a co-release from Morphine, Delsin and M>O>S – that made him the talk of the (world) town.

Undoubtedly one of the electronic LPs of the year, What We Have Learned classily reconciles the experimental and the dancefloor-effective, the abstract and the immediate; influences include post-punk and krautrock, but these broken down and absorbed into the very bloodstream of the music, rather than worn like external accessories. You need only look at the calibre of remixer that the work has attracted: namely Newworldaquarium and Just For One Day (an occasional alias of Torsten ‘T++’ Profrock).

Ahead of his appearance at the Elevate festival in Graz, Austria (alongside Chez Damier, Deepchord, Move and more), Morphosis has put together a hugely enjoyable and substantial mix of chicaning techno and gritty electronics, starring Jeff Mills, Ekoplekz, Traversable Wormhole, Marcel Dettmann and Container.
