In 2006, Michael Boland and Stephen Schieberl both signed onto a small label called Pnuma, a sublabel of Soma Quality Recordings. An online introduction and a few e-mails later, they got to work on a transatlantic collaboration project called "Drift Signal". The pair turned out over a dozen pieces that, as the individual artists busied themselves with their respective careers, have collected digital dust.

Nearly four years later, Slant Records is proud to present four selected works from the duo of Unknown Wanderer and Let's Go Outside as "Drift Signal". The tracks on this EP have proven themselves timeless. Each piece is a detailed, masterfully crafted exercise in clean, rich, aquatic sound design, loosely based on a framework of minimal techno.

"Fantastic Teeth" jump starts this release with a quick pace and a vicious arrangement with surprises at every turn. "Kick The Can" glitches and hiccups its way across a sinister soundscape, riding on a heavy current of bass. The epic "Lost At Sea" is the most removed from recognition of the four tracks, plodding along in the depths an oceanic world, unveiling a hidden light. ID track "Drift Signal" closes out the EP with a bouncy beat punctuated by the duo's signature drips and swells.

Look for Unknown Wanderer's "Council Tax EP" featuring remixes from bvdub and Area in late June 2010.
