Variations on a Theme is the latest collection of music from The Pad Foundation.
The concept of the album is based on the classical tradition of developing complete pieces of work based around a single musical theme. The pad foundation has worked to a similar discipline and produced an album where the tracks all have something in common.
A number of tracks use the same sounds, some are based around the same chord progression, others use common rhythmical devices and occasionally vocal samples from one track will echo across into another.
The resulting work is an album that has a very strong identity and a cohesive quality that binds the individual tracks together to make a true album of contemporary electronica
