"Something wasn't quite right here. The room was white, cold, empty. But as he feverishly cast his eyes about, a rising panic suddenly seized his throat. Something wasn't right. He looked down to his hands, clammy and starting to tremble. Stop it, he thought. You're just being paranoid. He scaled the room again. Nothing. There was nothing here. He was completely alone. The hairs on the back of his neck began to prick, an icy finger traced the line of his spine. He was completely alone. He was alone. He jumped and turned around. Nothing. The blank, colourless walls stared back at him. Unblinking. Silent. Still. And yet… someone was watching him."
For the timely tenth edition of the Grey Series, M_Rec Ltd welcomes back Donor / Truss to the fold. Whilst Tom Russell has been lately flexing his Truss muscles with Perc and causing a furore as Blacknecks with Bleaching Agent, Donor's Greg Schappert has been busy readying his dystopic debut album, Against All. After last year's swampy Aber for their first Grey Series outing, Ash sees the production partnership revived in the form of a trio of gritty, excursive techno works. Starting with cut one on the A-side, Ash simultaneously builds and decomposes, eked along with hypnotic loops and irritated layers of noise to conclude in a creaking industrial crescendo on the B-side.
