With an inward flow, Naono's 'Sleepy Pebbles' is a solitary ambient album focused on the inner self. It's lonesome yet comforting in its ability to convey a sense of familiarity through quiet and calming sounds. Gradual shifts in pace and beats that whirl like the eddies of a current, 'Sleepy Pebbles' goes with the flow. Sonics are soft and smooth as if worn by time and the natural elements. Naono forms atmospheres of blues and greys and invokes a hermetical sound that places the listener into a state comfort and inner unity.

Jonathan Canupp, the fellow behind the name Ten and Tracer, gives us these previously thought to be lost songs as the album 'You'll be a Hero Soon, Speaker'. He says they come from one of the best and most transformative periods of my life and reflect a new expermintation in his music. As fans of Ten and Tracer's early work would expect, this album is filled with the corrupted chords and detuned drones that listeners quickly learned to crave. Synths are ever mysterious, as they elusively pan the stereo field and compose emotive melodies.
While some tracks revolve entirely around ambient tones and melodies, drums remain an integral part of Ten and Tracers music. As Jonathan says, "they're probably made out of tapping twigs and reproduced Rolands". Whatever the case, for songs like 'Dodecahedron Leads the Way' and 'Sometimes Tyne-Tees' the rhythms become a more driving force. Their soft timbres and lively repetitions create a beautiful counter to the swelling, sustained chords so prominent in this album. Aside from this rhythmic play over ambient textures, Ten and Tracer laces in samples of obscured voices and clever references leaving much to be deciphered.

1 Fenton Relay Tag 5:10

Label: Archaic Horizon
Catalog#: AH036
Format: 5 x File, MP3, FLAC, EP
Country: US
Released: 13 Nov 2009

Wyn Evans of the UK brings us this mysterious and concise self-titled EP. Taking a minimalist approach Aeron builds an ambient atmosphere of layered synths that kindle a peaceful energy. Punctuated by punchy kicks the EP resonates with poetic tones that thread myths through its sonic verses.
Wyn says they are inspired from the natural beauty of the Aeron valley which he quotes the poet Dylan Thomas describing as 'the most precious place in the world'. The songs seek to capture serenity, changing seasons, and the passing of time. Beneath the surface there is reflection, hopes and fears, but its the beauty which prevails.
