Collect-Call is an apartment-run vinyl/tape label based out of Montreal. At the start of the month, the Canadian imprint released Mattlack's L.I.F cassette album, an analog-driven collection of left-field house jams. Spread across nine tracks, the album traverses through minimalistic drum workouts, gritty and textural long-form journeys, and other raw oddities, all stamped with Mattlack's machine work. (c) xlr8r

Dispatch Agency Podcast #19 – Mixed By Moodcut

Dispatch Agency Podcast #19 – Mixed By Moodcut
Who is moodcut? This is a question being thrown around pretty frequently these days and rightly so, since dropping the ‘Tame Cats’ EP on nous-disques back in November, moodcut has gone from being an unknown artist to a producer being tipped for bigger and better things in 2015.

For this Podcast, moodcut-1 has brought together a serious selection of dusty house burners, Chicago and Detroit infused cuts and the hazy aspects of what made his Nous EP (and his own production) so damn infectious. Tracks from terekke, patriciaaa, route8, willis-anne and Kassem Mosse all helping to showcase the buzz and excitement that currently surrounds house music, which in (a large) part is down to labels such l-i-e-s, lobster-theremin, opal-tapes, nous-disques and Workshop, to name a few.

No matter how many more questions get asked, one thing’s for certain, moodcut just killed it with this mix.
Thanks for all the support during 2014. See you on the other side.

Tracklisting:
1. Cloudface – 612 (Going Good)
2. Terekke – Bank 3 (L.I.E.S.)
3. Patricia – Josephine (Black Opal)
4. Independence Ave. Orchestra – Welfare (Proibito)
5. Spoiled Drama – The Sun In Your Face (Route 8 Remix) (Nous)
6. Miltiades – WA4.sun (Echovolt)
7. Route 8 – Cruising (Lobster Theremin)
8. Geena – How Sensitive (Antinote)
9. Willis Anne – The C Track (Nous / Berceuse Heroique)
10. Felix T – Moonshine (Wild Open Space)
11. Hinode – Escape (Monkey Bar)
12. 45 ACP – Breakin Out (Dog In The Night)
13. Kassem Mosse – Track 9 (Workshop)

A sound film is a motion picture with synchronized sounding elements, technologically coupled to image, as opposed to a silent film. The first known public exhibition of projected sound films took place in Paris in 1900. The idea of combining motion pictures with recorded sound is nearly as old as the concept of cinema itself. In the early1930s it became a global phenomenon.

[FSLAB 001] Eric Delay – Four Moments

Eric Delay – Four Moments
Label: FUSELab  – FSLAB001
Format: 4 × File
Country: Russia
Released: 17 Jan 2012
Genre: Electronic
Style: Deep House, Dub Techno, Ambient

Eric Delay, our in-home pal, produces his new «Four Moments» EP after a long silence he kept for five years. His last performance was also on Fragment, the 12th release of the series.
According to the artist’s words, while working on new material he had to dive into the «disease of the experimenter»: deny all the familiar sounds of the standard moves, starting with a blank face, not knowing what to get.
A thing has turned out brief but very intense. Quiet stingy sounds here construct an interesting interaction between the «moments», when it seems that everything is connected and the album is more like some kind of weird «ecosystem.» It would be wrong to single out any one of the «moments», as the ideas of each of them find a kind of reflection in remaining ones. But even this may not be so important when it turns out that you are simply listening to the touching and heartfelt music.

«If however go deeper, the data in this four tracks is the prism of winter wanderings. We walked around for a long time alone, fell through the snow like Kerrol’s Alice Lewis falling for a rabbit into a bottomless hole. Black night, the city resonating light, snowflakes… The subject of infinite winter walks and partings. Now I think that actually those 4 months we lived for 40 years, but they were all unreal.»
Eric Delay
