bravo - a collection of eight tracks, remixes and original works. created within the last three years, indivdually and with no obvious interrelation. partially previously released in several locations.

remixes, a session song (with contributions from several artists) and some true solo tracks, they all join for this interim summary of marco sebastian christ's works. and reveal the bigger picture of how he "sounds like". and give an idea of what he is heading for in the future.

by far more homogeneous than one would expect by reading the tracklisting. much more an album than a compilation. bravo!

so, spring is upon us with chirping birds and new dawn that is here to greet us to the premiere of Twin - the first tonAtom release from South Korea. however, despite the modulating sunbeams, it might still be bitterly cold, especially at night.
with reference to his release, Fescal presents the first three tracks exhibiting shadowy sketches, defying customary song writing paradigms that leave the tracks as the acoustic equivalent to movie stills. the beautiful "asteroidea" is the first in a row of three full-length tracks, flattering our ears, followed by the crackling-lubricious "sunday morning" and culminating in the ‘granular hymn’ (if this term does not exist yet, it has to be coined now) "resorption".
the productions of Twin are relaxed, palatial and precise - requiring a focused ear, who is in turn rewarded with an immense set of different moods, colours, timbres and settings. there are almost no percussive elements, but you won’t miss them, because they are not needed even when you are actively looking for them. instead, visions of nobly woven atmospheric river emerge, that often de-liquifies every now and then into river of granular ice.
For those looking to fie Fescal’s artistry in a particular class or group, you might stick the general label: ambient to this EP which, would be similar to labeling a moonlight gourami with the label‚ animal.

michael hoffmann does not need to be introduced to the netaudio world. several netlabels have seen him publishing excellent releases in various constellations and styles.
this time he presents his experimental side as a solo artist on tonAtom: the acoustic drumkit is the starting point (in terms of both composition and sound) for five aural journeys between live sampling, loop processing and highly sophisticated studio work.
he shows us his sounds en detail through the magnifying glass and through the scanning microscope; and lets them vanish into the fogs of the atmospheres he has created.

just add: some melodies from nice to strange, some beats from break to straight and some ambiences, ranging from warm to chilly. from these ingredients tell some stories, of course about the "knights from the diving school"... quite a simple recipy.

but you must be the right artist to do this, just like firnwald. on this guest release on tonAtom he takes us on an unbelievable course through the last 15 years of electronic music in 19 tracks one must have heard.

sometimes justin from chicago/IL is james beckman. sometimes james beckman is dreamlogicc. and when he is, he works on great electronic tracks.

"machines and metaphors" is his debut release on tonAtom. it is a reflection of a physical and interdimensional journey.

both the music and the artwork paintings are different approaches towards the matter of moving from one side of a mountain to the other.

the idea of string theory's 'multiverse', and an eleven-dimensional reality form an audio footpath through the physicality of this mountain (which, in itself, is a metaphor for a more grand space/time picture).
