Ismail Genc’s most recent offering Derivate comes on the heels of his Havantepe project where he created dubby circles in techno. This time around the Istanbulite derives new approaches from emerging musical ideas in a bid to combine them in his distinctive style.
The title of the EP comes from the locations in space where gravitational forces and the orbital configuration of an object balance each other. There are five Lagrangian Points in the Sun-Earth system numbered from L1 to L5 and of the five points, three are unstable and two are stable. L1, L2 and L3 constitute unstable equilibrium points and the tracks on this first part of Lagrangian Points EP’s are named after them.
On these four tracks you are invited to experience a dreamy techno space, filled with human emotions and shattered beats. Inspired by some dubstep elements, Derivate delivers three tracks of dub-tech-based minimal grooves and Tufan Demir’s Beto Narme strips down L2 and appends more dubstep edge to it with sharp rhythms.

Woah! It’s Monday once again and here is your weekly fix of Rebel Music. From acoustic to post rock, a flavor of pop and even Brit pop made in Russia we have it all covered in a great selection with 8 music projects from 6 different countries.
We start with a U.S. based project called Selbyville’‘: “The Quiet Uproar” is a wonderful acoustic track released on a new netlabel called No Source. We then fly to Germany to meet the work of Julia Kotowski a.k.a. Entertainment for the Brain Dead(and featured on the cover art for this edition designed by Andrea La Valleur) that mixes simple but amazing songs with different approaches: on the featured track, “Paper“, you can listen to paper being ripped as part of the percussion section: Brilliant!.
Up north we go to Sweden to meet the work of Nina-me and her track “After seven years of love“. Nina-me’s voice is as enchanting as disturbing and she puts all her feelings in to her work. A must listen! We continue to Norway to meet the sonic post rock of the The Manipulated Living that have recently published their new work on the Ucranian netlabel Nocharizma. Reminescent of the early works by Sonic Youth, but with a darker and powerful nordic touch, “Platypus” is a furious track full of stories to tell but not for everyone’s ears, I agree.
So nothing better than to move down south and meet the happy pop from Spanish singer Jenifer Avila and her song “El Tranvia” (The cable car) that takes us immediately to a certain Madrid of the 80s, Almodovar and la movida. Next track takes us to Manchester in the U.K. and to the Keyboard Rebel project. Fun, light and with a social conscience I think we will be hearing from them much more in the future.
Back to the U.S. and to a track by Derrick Art, “You’re winning so I quit” from his just released EP on 12rec, “Songs from A Cross (The Sea)“: This is gentle pop, well built with fine textures and taste. The final track I just could not resist and include what was a surprise to me: Listen to Mari!Mari!’s “Get You!” and if you had any doubts about the universality of music this band is a great example: Brit Pop at his best, well structured and with that naivety that only teens can bring into a song coming to you directly from Moscow, in Russia. Take a listen for yourself!

Welcome to Our Back Yard, Xynthetic Netlabel’s first real look around the place to see what our neighbors are up to.
Graeme and I started Xynthetic in late 2006 with the intent of working with artists both local to and remote from Vancouver. Up ‘til now we’ve been very successful working with remote artists, but our presence in our home base has been slow in coming. Outside of our own tracks, and artists like The Square Root of Evil, Daega and Revelostoker, Xynthetic hasn’t had a lot of interaction with the local crowd.
In July of this year I performed at Sequential Circus 5 along with a couple of the other acts on this compilation: Filip Gorecki and Konketsu. I had a chance to meet and catch up with a number of other e-muso’s there and the idea to do a Vancouver-focused compilation became obvious. I started to put this compilation in motion that night.
This compilation should not be taken as a summation or encapsulation of the Vancouver electronic music community. The Vancouver electronic music scene is large and varied, and we wouldn’t presume to speak for it. This is a collection of music by artists who called Vancouver home at the time the tracks were assembled and happened to be tuned into our wavelength. Some of the artists are native Vancouverites, but a number are immigrants to the city like myself (I moved from around Detroit in early 2000).
In the end it comes down to 10 tracks by electronic musicians and producers who happen to be located in Vancouver. Neither inclusion nor omission is in any way a poltical statement. As always Xynthetic casts a wide styiistic net rather than a laser focus on a genre or sound... this is music we like united by a unique piece of geography. We hope you enjoy the compilation, and thanks for your continued support of Xynthetic Netlabel and the artists who work with us.

The word "Tsotsitaal" means "criminal language," but the music couldn't be more distant from such. Tsotsitaal is a collection of soft drones and patient textures sourced from old synths, tapes, violin, acoustic guitar, flute, broken music boxes and field recordings. Each source has been carefully manipulated in a variety of ways. Some were subjected to deconstruction and wearing using reels and recorders, sound-on-sound layering, microphone mischief and the like. Others were sent through Ten and Tracer's collection of home-made Reaktor patches and a cascade of other novel digital processes all performed live.
Each session resulted in dozens of layers (and hours) which were then edited down and detailed. The sound is almost wholly organic in nature, reflective and meditative. It is a bath of pleasantries with a distinct opiate sensibility. Calm and warm. Deeply personal and full of heart.

El proyecto hace su aparición dentro de la escena underground limeña en 1999 y se daría a través de su participación en un compilado titulado La Pandilla Basura, con la que conseguirían hacerse conocidos dentro del circuito musical y además, serían catalogados según el programa 2001 de Helene Ramos, como grupo revelación.
Nace por parte de Carlos "El Buitre" Velásquez, Carlos "Zetangas" García y Ernesto "Neto" Pérez en el bajo, guitarra y batería respectivamente.
"Abrumado con todas las posibilidades que se podían tener con un PC, me dediqué a probar con todo lo que encontraba y terminaba en canciones, luego saqué el CD y al proponerme tocarlo en vivo recién lo transformé en un grupo de rock, porque no quería tocar yo solo con la PC, quería un grupo y así funcionó". La versión física del disco también rompieró esquemas al incluir vídeos y canciones en mp3, aparte de los 8 temas que ahora ponemos a tu disposición.
Ellos siguen trabajando en una nueva producción, mucho más pegado a la electrónica. Incluimos el tema Koto en el compilatorio Dos Más, volumen 1, editado por Dorog Records.

Five years have passed since the first IJO release on Sutemos. During this time his musical carrer didn't stood still - he has released one more EP on Sutemos, three on other net labels (Plain Productions, Envizagae and Resting Bell), self-released Untitled LP vinyl and released his album on Puta Lithuanian label this year. IJO is really productive lately. Hardware that he started to use for his music is party to be blamed for this. But, as usual, Chrechez la femme :)
The title of this release itself reveals that this album is artist's retrospective. The first du discs if to be more exact. Here you will see all nine heads of this electronic dragon - from calm and lyric ambient through electro, acid to noisy and crunchy drill'n'bass. Forget about The Driw Play. At least for now.
The third disc of this release is his ode to love. We haven't touched with a single toe - you can download it as we got it from IJO.
We sincerely hope that this is his last release on Sutemos. Not that we do not want this to happen again. He's just worth a lot more.

Tracks from Selektida were created during the period of 2003-2009.
In these years I have managed in line with my life to capture endless amounts of moods, colours and sounds, changes, moments of sadness and joy, different thoughts on music. This album is like a reflection of my own self. Sad at some points. Serious sometimes. Sometimes joyful or just happy of being myself and being able to make music.
A very special part of this release is its third disc - Sealody Songs. It was inspired by a person whose name I gave to this spound book. It is some kind of tale, story made out of small chapters.
Although I have never done this before, but I would like to send big "THANKS" to these people:
to my Mother, Father and Brother - whatever happens you will all still remain the most important people and my main inspiration.
