For the hundredth episode of DJBroadcast weekly podcast was something special happen. In our view there is no better candidate than the man who helped the phenomenon seriously content for web radio: Ferenc van der Sluijs aka IF. In 2003, his Cybernatic Broadcasting System (CBS) was launched, one of the first Internet radio stations. It made a Hague international hub for neglected genres like electro and italo. Two years ago, CBS made room for Intergalactic FM. Who wants to know which tracks the listener Ferenc has selected, his podcast listening watch at all. [Amsterdam, The Netherlands. January 15th, 2010] -- Juju & Jordash are giving dance music a good kick in the pants right now, plain and simple. They aren't alone, but they are perhaps the most exciting. Combining their countless years playing jazz and be-bop in bands and electronic production techniques they are creating thrilling new strains of house, techno, dub and jazz. They have an appreciation for older music eras but aren't bound to those traditions-check out their Off Minor radio shows for evidence of this fact. This is readily apparent on their 2nd album, Juju & Jordash, which is due out on Dekmantel later this month. Tracks like "Jazzy Trance" and offer up a peak into an alternate universe where Ornette Coleman, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Ralf Hildenbeutel became the Traveling Wilburys. And on "Dirty Spikes" J&J go balls-to-wall italo combusition. But they also dial it back for reflective moments of murky piano, terse middle eastern motifs and shimmering cymbals as displayed on "Jugdish." I caught up with the two of them to get their perspective on making Juju & Jordash and ended up talking movies, bacon and a bit of politics. [intro and interview by Kuri Kondrak]
In an increasingly consensus driven dance music culture, Juju & Jordash let their freak flag fly. More akin to a particularly funky jazz combo or psychedelic rockers than your average production duo, Gal Aner and Jordan Czamanski take a vivid and largely organic approach to making house music that leaves few boundaries left to color outside of. Early on their sui generis sound caught the ears Detroit artists Reggie Dokes and Keith Worthy and garnered releases on their labels (Psychostasia and Aesthetic Audio, respectively) among many others, but the Amsterdam-based pair gained their widest renown with the release of their self-titled sophomore LP on Dekmantel. The present pinnacle of their vibrant, jazz-infused sound found favor with critics and elbowed its way onto several discerning year end lists. It also gave us hope there is much more to come. Gal and Jordan were kind enough to answer a few of our questions between gigs, and put together a whirlwind mix of lush house sounds, industrial textures and ethnic explorations that goes a long way towards explaining their perspective and getting you dancing.

Eén van de fraaiste albums van het bijna afgelopen jaar kwam van Fever Ray, de naam waaronder The Knife zangeres Karin Dreijer zich als solo-artiest presenteert. En onder die naam is Dreijer ook op tournee: donderdag 3 december staat ze in Paradiso te Amsterdam.
Haar optreden van 3 september in het Zweedse Lulea werd opgenomen en is deze week via DJBroadcast te horen als podcast. Wie haar heeft zien spelen op Lowlands of Motel Mozaique zal de tracks herkennen, want het is dezelfde show. Hij is ook te horen op de bonus cd die bij de nieuwe, luxe editie die er onlangs van Fever Ray's titelloze debuutalbum is verschenen.
One of the finest albums of the past year came from almost Fever Ray, the name under the Knife singer Karin Dreijer himself as a solo artist presents. And under that name is also on tour Dreijer: Thursday, December 3, she is in Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Paris was een van de smaakmakers van de Parijse clubscene, toen hij in 2004 ook internationaal naam maakte met zijn track Future Now (uitgebracht onder de artiestennaam DB vs. Tim Paris). Sinds 2005 bestiert hij met Parijzenaar Jef K. het label Marketing Music. Na een dozijn club releases is het wachten op Paris's debuutalbum. Uit Toronto, Canada komt Arthurs Oskamn ook wel bekend onder zijn pseudoniem Myers Briggs dat hij reserveert voor zijn meer minimale producties. Oskan produceert sinds 2003 en maakte een ruim dozijn releases voor diverse labels, plus twee handen vol remixes. Hij treedt ook op en sinds zijn spraakmakende bijdrage als Meyers Briggs aan het Mutek festival van 2006 is zijn remix portefeuille flink gegroeid.
From Toronto, Canada Oskamn Arthurs is also known under his alias Myers Briggs that he reserved for his more minimal productions. Oskan producing since 2003 and made a dozen large releases for various labels, plus two hands full of remixes. DJB: Wie ben je?
Fixmer: In een paar woorden: Ik ben Terence Fixmer, kom uit Frankrijk, ik produceer techno onder mijn eigen naam sinds 1998 en ik heb uitgebracht op releases als Gigolo, Datapunk, Music Man, Novamute, Different, White Noise, en laatst nog op Speedy J's nieuwe label Electric Deluxe.
DJB: Wat voor gear heb je gebruikt om de mix op te nemen?
Fixmer: Als ik een liveset doe gebruik ik Ableton, een Motu Mk2, een Mackie 1604 vlz pro, een Clavia Micro Modular, een MFB synth 2 en een Dave Smith instrument Evolver en wat externe effecten en wat midi controllers.
DJB: Wat is het concept van je mix? Had je een strijdplan?
Fixmer: Als ik een liveset doe hou ik er van mijn tracks op te splitsen in acht loops of één of twee maten. Die stuur ik als aparte bestanden via de Motu naar de Mackie. Vanaf daar bouw ik live de track weer op via de aparte kanalen van de Mackie. Dan moet ik alleen nog onthouden welke loop wat is... Als ik één track in acht loops opsplits, zijn 10 tracks in tachtig loops opgesplitst. Het is me dus wel eens gebeurd dat ik per ongeluk een verkeerde loop in een track heb gezet.
DJB: Waar ben je op dit moment vooral mee bezig?
Fixmer: Als ik een track maak in de studio, vind ik de creatie het leukst, maar ik haat het om de arrangementen te doen. Daar ben ik veel te veel mee bezig.
DJB: Wat wordt je volgende release?
