With its fusion of shimmering electronica and a raw rock vibe, FoW proves to be a very engaging listen. At times quiet and contemplative… at other times beat-driven and laced with distorted guitar and melancholic vocals. All the while a bit challenging to put your finger on and yet it’s quickly familiar. It’s that very enigmatic nature that’s sure to pull you in.
On a side note, I just wanted to give a shout out to Just Plain Sounds. When I first heard early versions of some of the FoW music, I had not known that it was originally set for a JPS release. After approaching Mark Herbkersman (aka Friends or Whatever) about a blocSonic release, I found out. I have to give props to Anthony Gillison aka Just Plain Ant who was gracious enough to allow us the pleasure. So thank you once again Ant!!!

@Flyafter is a pop band from Jakarta, Indonesia. A very underrated place in the here and now of pop music.
The band was formed in 2004 by Hannan Jaya and Rully Fahrezzy and the setting was completed in 2005 by Rully Luandri. The band´s been playing regularly live from time to time ever since.
Flyafter´s music is a cool mix of acoustic and electronic blends. Dreamy naked acoustic daydreams engaged with long trippy kraut-rock electronic passages. All mashed up with beautiful pop harmonies. They describe themselves as influenced by Britpop and Norwegian alternative music. And we know what they mean.
Although the band´s been around for a while and had played a lot live during their years, the Extended Play EP is their first proper release for the world to know. And now is the time!

Danish Daycare is the brain child of Malmö resident Daniel Jönsson. As a full time member of Emerald Park - released on 23 seconds earlier this year - Jönsson has already added considerable achievements to his name over the course of his musical career, apart from his recent ventures as a solo performer.
Just like Emerald Park, where Jönsson is on the bill as guitar player/keyboardist, Danish Daycare is about indie pop… However with a more certain amount of darkness, unveiling an unmistakable eighties herritage, where guitars and electronic webs of sound are woven together, inseparable it seems, in the most natural fashion. The music of winterphonic reflets a transformative process of decomposition and rearrangement. The diversity of fragile sounds and voice melt to a metamorph soundscape.
Winterphonic was founded as a trio in 2004, a first EP was released at the viennese label cracked an egg records. With a new musical formation (Emanuel Jauk, Adina Camhy) new influences came together. After some time of working, some releases on different compilations and many concerts played, the new album spirals emerged.
The album spirals, in its high grade of heterogeneity, reflects the way winterphonic are working. The intention was to make this process transparent to the listeners on the one hand- on the other, the ten tracks still give the impression of a coherent musical experience.

This is the second time after So I´m Jo Modularfield puts the focus on Austrailia and tears down the wall of a limited genre portfolio. Once again electronic music combined with vocals but this time a little bit more different and ruff. Sydney indie pop four piece Convaire are the collaboration of John Towey on guitars, sisters Liz and Jane Slattery on keys and Dan Talbot on bass combine male brashness tempered by the subtleties of youthful femininity. Inspired by the music of Talking Heads, Friendly Fires, Pheonix and other pop friendly artists, Convaire have already graced many of Sydney’s popular venues. This year 2010 starts with the album Monique (PEN007) by the barcelonean artist Adyo. This album -first of his career after publishing 2 tracks for Paradigma Musik label- presents Adyo's skills. Broken atmospheres, ambient and electronic melodies, and sort of indie music taste. Seven 'strong-united' tracks that have to be listened from the beginning until the end.
